Latest studies show that male-pattern baldness affects half of all men by the time they turn 50 – Have you noticed any signs yet? Find out what exactly Male Pattern Baldness is, if and how you are losing your hair and most importantly; how we at Este Medical Group can start your hair growth story. We have many treatments and procedures available specifically for men who are struggling with conditions such as Alopecia, Severe Stress, Receding hairline and more. Find more information below about how we can help and read other patient’s success stories.
Although there are many causes of hair loss for men, the most common is Male Pattern Baldness also known as Androgenetic Alopecia.
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the testosterone which causes hair loss. It attaches itself to hair follicles causing them to shrink over time, becoming thinner and thinner until you are bald on the top of your head. This condition can either be genetic or environmental, meaning it could have been passed down by a family member or it may be down to a person’s lifestyle choices, for example, stress or diet.
Not sure if you have male pattern baldness? We recommend getting in touch at the first sign of losing your hair as leaving it longer may result in further damage.
Noticing the appearance of thinning hair?
A receding hairline, or excessive shedding?
Is your scalp becoming more visible? Compare a photo of your hair last year, to now, you might notice a difference.
Is your hair becoming thinner every month, and more is falling out each day? Most men’s hair loss starts when they are in their 20’s, but typically takes 15-25 years to go bald, gradually thinning out.
There’s no need to suffer – Improve your confidence with a full head of hair. We primarily focus on the stimulation of the hair follicles to increase blood flow underneath the scalp to the skull. We also remove dead skin cells to push the skin to produce new skin cells, promoting a healthy natural growth for men.
If you prefer a non-surgical route we offer a range of treatments such as Laser Hair Growth, which consists of regular therapy sessions specifically stimulating each follicle proven to work.
We can’t stress the importance of aftercare if we perform a hair loss treatment. For example, for a FUE Hair Transplant, we recommend professionally washing your hair, every day, for at least 10 days afterwards the surgery. Without doing so, it could result in adverse effects – For example, a transplant alone could lead to losing all existing hairs faster!
Hair loss affects everyone in different ways, ranging from mild to extreme cases with a variety of different causes. Below we have detailed some of the main types of hair loss to help you identify what solution might be best for you.
Receding Hairline
One of the most common patterns of hair loss is a Receding Hairline, this is where the hair is lost either side of the forehead, looking triangular in the middle. This might be the only area for some men, but others may notice thinning at the crown, which may also be balding.
If you think you might have a receding hairline and want a solution, speak to our hair loss specialists today for more information about what treatments we provide.
General Thinning
If you’re unsure, General Thinning is hair loss spread evenly over the top of your scalp. Some may also notice a distinct receding hairline or thinning crown, but in most general thinning cases it can take longer to identify. However, don’t panic – if you think you’ve left it too long, there are a range of treatments available to successfully prevent or reverse any effects of hair thinning.
Thinning Crown
The top of your head is called the ‘crown’ or ‘vertex’ – some men will experience thinning here, resulting in the scalp becoming visible, and soon after a bald patch may appear. This may work with a receding hairline, but most men will have one or the other.
The extent or the pattern is different for every person, and this is very common for most men. So, if you think you’ve noticed signs of hair loss on your crown and want to act fast before it gets worse.
Alopecia
Alopecia Areata is a condition which is seen frequently by our specialists, it consists of stages of patchy hair loss due to hair follicles rapidly entering the ‘resting’ phase. It can be genetically passed down and can appear at any time in a person’s life, but there may be an external trigger such as shock or stress.
Depending of the severity of the condition and the stage it’s at, the treatment we provide can be very successful. Read our success stories, giving you inspiration, motivation and hope in the specialists at Este Medical Group.
Severe Stress (Telogen Effluvium)
A person may be experiencing hair loss because of recent stress or shock, this pattern is known as Telogen Effluvium. Hair loss will take place approximately three months after the event which caused shock or stress.
Signs of this pattern include: increased shedding following the event, thinning hair and patches of hair being lost. Start your hair growth journey today – We are here to help you every step of the way.

Normally hair follicles aren’t lost, but the hair they produce gradually becomes too small to be seen clearly. The result is male pattern baldness – in men, genetic hair loss often presents itself as a receding hairline or thinning hair on the crown.
Is Hair Loss Genetic?
The primary baldness gene is on the X-chromosome, which men get only from their mothers. The hereditary factor is slightly more dominant on the woman’s side. There are also other factors such as the environment and stress which cause hair loss.
What Are Early Signs Of Balding?
Receding Hairline – Male pattern baldness typically starts in the hairline
Thinning in the Crown Area – The common warning sign of male pattern baldness is thinning hair in the crown area
Loss of Hair on Top Portion of Head
Shedding hair frequently

An unhealthy diet can cause hair loss which is because the body needs essential nutrients so it can function properly. Diets lacking in iron and protein will affect hair growth because these are the nutrients required by the follicles to grow hair.
Does the lack of blood flow to the scalp cause hair loss?
Studies show that young men with male-pattern baldness had more than two and a half times lower scalp blood flow than in normal controls.
Research has also found that identifying and adding growth factors that stimulate blood vessel growth can help with hair follicle vascularisation, promoting hair growth and increasing follicle size.
