Skin laxity is a looseness of the skin. It is a completely natural part of the ageing process. As we age, our skin loses its firmness and structure – that's because the building blocks (collagen and elastin) that help to keep skin looking youthful - start to deplete. This results in skin that is looser and saggier in appearance. Skin can also develop a crepe-like texture, as well as wrinkles and fine lines.
The main cause behind skin laxity is the natural ageing process. However, you may fast-track skin laxity if you don’t take good care of your skin. For instance, sun damage can contribute to prematurely-ageing skin. So, too, can:

You offer so many treatments for skin laxity - how do I know which is the right treatment to choose?
You’re right, we do offer many treatments that can help with skin laxity. If you’re not sure which one is the right choice for you, the best thing to do is book in for a free no-obligation consultation with us. When we see you in person, we’ll be able to talk through the options and find out which treatment is likely to be your best choice.
Are treatments for skin laxity permanent?
To keep on top of ageing skin, you will probably need to have repeat treatments. For instance, if you choose to have dermal fillers - they will wear out over time. Chemical peels will give your skin a boost for a certain amount of time, but again, their effects will fade after a while. Keep up with regular maintenance treatments and you should see an improvement to your skin laxity.
Aside from in-salon treatments, what else can I do to help improve the appearance of my skin?
You might find facial yoga exercises helpful in improving your skin laxity. This YouTube video from Fit Tak gives you some quick and easy facial yoga exercises to try. Keeping your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and ensuring it is protected from the sun with a high SPF sun cream every day are two other must-do's.
