What Causes Strawberry Legs?
Strawberry legs are caused by trapped bacteria and dead skin cells within hair follicles, along with a build-up of oils, dirt, sweat and other debris forming around the follicle.
Other causes can include excessive hair growth, ingrown hairs, dry skin, or bacterial or fungal infections. Additionally, shaving and waxing can remove the protective layer of oils from the skin, allowing the hair follicles to get clogged more easily and contributing towards strawberry legs.
Although these dark spots commonly appear on the lower legs and thighs, they can also appear on other areas where hair has been removed such as the underarms, bikini area, and upper lip. Certain factors could also worsen the condition, including tight clothing or anything that irritates the skin around the hair follicles.
