Inner and outer beauty is totally achievable, but you’ll need to put a little legwork in. Whether that’s on a mental health level, a nutrient level, or a physical level, there is plenty you can do to reach that inner and outer beauty goal. Let’s go!
Sleep
Let’s start with the absolute basics. Even with a bucketload of makeup, you’re not going to radiate an inner beauty outer glow if you feel like the walking dead.
Get some sleep. Do it. Turn off the TV, switch off your phone, get rid of any artificial light in your bedroom, and relax.
Research has shown that your heart health is improved if you consistently go to bed between 10pm and 11pm. Do you need a better excuse?
Drink Water
Water is the source of life. Yep, let that sink in. Now take a minute to appreciate why it’s so good for your body, and why you look and feel so much better when you get enough H2O.
Water helps get you healthy on the inside, hydrates, flushes out toxins, and keeps your body working the way it should.
Ever have trouble with constipation? Brain fog? Low energy? Start with upping your water intake and see how much better you soon feel and watch those issues fade into insignificance.
Exercise
Whether it’s swimming, a run, or a bike ride – or an old school Davina workout on DVD – exercising is one of the best ways to promote a healthy body inside and out.
When you workout you improve your body’s circulation, boost oxygenation to your skin and that’s why you get that amazing post-workout glow.
Did you also know that exercise is great at helping to keep the skin toned and wrinkle-free as it promotes collagen production?
Diet
Want to feel beautiful inside and out, take a look at your diet. Your body will benefit from a varied diet of fresh foods. Help your gut’s microbiome out by eating foods such as -
- Lentils
- Wholegrains
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Sourdough bread
- Kefir
Mental Health
In terms of the best ways to promote a healthy body inside and out, focusing on your mental health should be right up there. Life can throw some unexpected curveballs at us, and it can be hard to always feel our best.
If you’re finding things tough try speaking to someone you trust, meditate, check out the Emotional Freedom Technique for some quick and easy tapping exercises, and try to practice mindfulness.
Do Something you Love
Cook your favourite meal, watch your most-loved film, sort out your wardrobe and figure out some new outfits, read a great book, or speak to an old friend – make time to do something that makes you feel good on the inside and you’ll benefit on the outside.
Don’t think of these things as a ‘treat’, think of them as a necessity if you’re going to keep feeling good inside and out.
Fix it
If something’s been bugging you and you haven’t faced up to it, maybe now’s the time. Maybe a friendship needs a little extra work, there might be an issue with a colleague at the office, or perhaps you’re fed up with a skin condition – whatever it is that’s getting to you, it’s time to tackle it.
Work out what you need to do in order to make the situation better, and you’ll soon feel like a weight’s been lifted. If your issue is to do with your skin for instance, book a free consultation at Este and take the first step in dealing with the problem.
If you’ve felt stuck, not knowing what to do, it’s great to talk to an expert who’ll be able to show you what options are available to you.
Laugh
Get that inner beauty outer glow with a good old giggle. When you radiate happiness, you radiate beauty and everyone knows that ‘laughter is the best medicine’.
If you’re finding it hard to feel positive about your particular situation there are things you can do to help shift those feelings. You could -
- Do something kind – showing kindness to someone else will make you feel good too
- Be present in the small things – focus on the here and now, be mindful, don’t let your thoughts run away into what might/might not happen
- Go for a serotonin-boosting jog
- Eat chocolate – it's a fact: endorphins, serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin are all released when we eat a bar of the good stuff. Yes!
